The interim Chairman Engr. Gbenga Komolafe of AFRIPERF convened the latest meeting with strong participation from member countries, marking another step forward in strengthening regional collaboration. The session opened with the agenda being adopted without objections, as members commended the Secretariat for its effective preparation and the absence of outstanding Terms of Reference issues. Special credit was given to the Interim Chairman and team for their steady leadership and coordination.
A major highlight of the agenda was the proposed redesign of the AFRIPERF logo to better reflect unity among member states. The new concept, featuring the African map to symbolize a “Green Africa,” received broad support. Delegates from Morocco, Ghana, Guinea, Sierra Leone and others provided constructive recommendations aimed at enhancing inclusivity, clarity and shared identity. The Interim Chairman agreed that revised samples will be circulated to all members for further input and voting — a decision praised as transparent and inclusive.
The meeting also addressed the expansion of membership to include National Oil Companies (NOCs) that perform regulatory functions, particularly in both upstream and downstream operations. With no objections raised, the Interim Chairman announced that formal extension notices will be issued to eligible NOCs, further widening AFRIPERF’s scope and regional influence.
Another pivotal decision under the Interim Chairman’s session was the nomination and voting for the Chairman and Secretariat of AFRIPERF. Eng. Gbenga Komolafe, representing Nigeria, emerged as the winner by majority vote, resulting in Nigeria being confirmed as the Head Quarters for AFRIPERF’s headquarters while he retains the position of Chairman. In his acceptance remarks, the Chairman expressed sincere appreciation to all members for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to give his best in serving the forum.
Overall, the meeting reflected a high level of unity, openness, and strategic direction, with the Chairman steering discussions effectively and ensuring that member voices remained central to the outcomes.
