DPR seals 10 gas stations operating in residential areas in Osun

Eight days after 15 illegal Liquefied Petroleum Gas stations operating without a license in Osun State were shut, another 10 of such stations were on Sunday sealed off by the Department of Petroleum Resources, Osogbo field Office.

The DPR’s Operations Controller, Ademola Makinde, who broke the news to journalists in Osogbo, expressed concern over the proliferation of illegal gas plants across the state.

According to him, during surveillance, officials of DPR discovered that many gas stations in Osogbo and Ilesha were operating within residential areas.

Makinde however, assured that the DPR would continue to ensure laydown safety rules and regulations are adhered to by gas plant operators.

He said, “We are not saying people should not do business but for them to do so, they have to follow the laydown safety rules and regulations.

“Many of these illegal gas plants operate without a valid licence and also within residential areas.

“This cannot be tolerated and that is why our surveillance team will not leave any stone unturned in its bid to ensure that safety standards were maintained in the gas business in the state.”
