NUPRC AND SECURITY AGENCIES ENGAGE ON CRUDE OIL THEFT AT HYDROCARBON EVALUATION WORKSHOP

In a strategic move to tackle the rising menace of crude oil theft, the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) on Tuesday convened a high-level Hydrocarbon Evaluation Workshop to equip security agencies with the knowledge of how to process and evaluate the various upstream portals relating to crude oil pipelines.

The event, held at the Commission’s Headquarters in Jabi, Abuja, brought together industry players and representatives from security agencies.

Organized by the Development and Production Division of the Commission, the workshop focused on equipping security agencies with knowledge of how to process and evaluate the various upstream portals as a strategic means of addressing the escalating challenges posed by sabotage and theft along crude oil pipelines.

The workshop underscored the importance of accountability and transparency in ensuring the integrity of the hydrocarbon sector.

Acknowledging the proactive measures by NUPRC, representatives of the Nigerian Navy, Army, Department of State Security Services, and Brand One technology commended the Commission. They also commended the Commission’s commitment to accountability and transparency.

This collaborative effort between regulatory bodies and security agencies signals a unified front in safeguarding Nigeria’s energy security.
