NUPRC Donates Relief Materials to Flood Victims in Akwa Ibom State

The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has donated relief materials to six local government areas ravaged by flood in 2022 in Akwa Ibom State.

 

The six beneficiary local government areas are Eket, Ibeno, Eastern Obolo, Ikot Abasi, Nsit Ubium and Mbo respectively.

 

In his welcome remarks, the Head, NUPRU Eket office, Mr Utukudoh Williams, thanked their host communities for their support and collaboration, which has enabled them to carry out their duties and tasks seamlessly and unhindered, saying they hold the gesture very dear to their hearts and do not take it for granted.

 

Williams, said the past few months have been difficult for many in the flood affected communities, with mixed feelings, despair and uncertainty in the minds of the flood victims, hence the commission, through the approval of the Chief Executive, Engr. Gbenga Komolafe, FNSE, has graciously approved and directed the provision of some relief materials to communities that were impacted by the flood.

 

He noted that, as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), the Commission deem it necessary to help put smiles on the faces of our people especially during very difficult time, saying that more need to be done to ameliorate the suffering of the victims.

 

In their separate goodwill messages, the Chairman of Eket local government area, Mr. Akaniyene Tommey represented by the Vice Chairman, Mrs Comfort Emmanuel, Chairman of Eastern Obolo LGA, Mr Abraham Odion, Chairman of Ikot Abasi LGA, Mr Joshua Afia, lauded NUPRC for the kind gesture to donate to flood victims.

 

Other speakers including the Paramount Ruler of Mbo, representative of the Paramount Ruler of Ibeno and Nsit Ubium local government areas, representative of the State Commissioner for Petroleum and his counterpart in the Ministry of Environment, all commended NUPRC for a laudable initiative, encouraged other government agencies to emulate same gesture.

 

In attendance were the Eket Council Secretary, Mr. Uso Hanson, NUPRC Human Resources, Ekuri Kingsley, Eket Council Supervisors, benefiting communities, among others.
