DPR DIRECTOR INAUGURATES COMMITTEE FOR THE REVIEW AND DEVELOPMENT OF DECOMMISSIONING REQUIREMENTS IN NIGERIA

The Ag. Director of Petroleum Resources (DPR) Mr. Ahmad Rufai Shakur, has inaugurated a committee at the DPR Head Office Lagos today. The membership is drawn from the private sector, academia and industry professionals who are expected to review and develope a framework for decommissioning requirements in Nigerià.

The committee is to be chaired by Mr. Enorense Amadasu (Deputy Director & Head Upstream Division) of the DPR.

The terms of reference include:

1. To host and organise a maiden international conference on decommissioning of oil and gas facilities in Nigeria.
2. Review the existing regulatory framework on decommissioning oil and gas facilities in Nigeria.
3. Carry out studies on international best practice on decommissioning and benchmark with Nigerian regulatory framework.
4. Develope and propose relevant laws (Bill/Regulation) on decommissioning and abandonment of oil and gas facilities in Nigeria.

The committee had it’s inaugural meeting today.
