NIGERIA’S 59TH INDEPENDENCE DAY ANNIVERSARY: “A TALE OF 2 CITIES”…

The Ag. Dir. of Petroleum Resources, Mr. Ahmad Rufai Shakur, led staff of the Department through the 2019 Anniversary celebrations.

The day kicked off with the singing of the National anthem and symbolic hoisting of the Nation’s flag simultaneously, amidst the enchanting voices of DPR staff, obeying the Clarion call to service of our fatherland.

The cutting of the anniversary cake was done by DPR Top Management in collaboration with representatives of the two in-house Union’s.

In his Independence day message to staff, Mr. Shakur encouraged all staff to imbibe the virtues of peace and unity at the work place,, as a major ingredient to creating the enabling environment for business to succeed and also meet the aspirations of the Federal Government for the oil and gas sector.

There was traditional breaking and sharing of kola nuts to staff from all the geopolitical zones of Nigeria.

DPR staff took time off their busy work schedules to dance, wine and dine on a variety of locally made Nigerian food and drinks.

This tale of 2 cities celebrates the magnificent foyer of the DPR head office main building on the one hand and the newly renovated back parking area, popularly known as “Bakassi” to DPR staff on the other.
