The Director/CEO of the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) Engr. Sarki Auwalu MNSE, welcomed a high level delegation from EXXONMOBIL to his office in Lagos yesterday. The delegation was led by Mr. Paul McGrath, Chairman & Managing Director, ExxonMobil Companies in Nigeria,
Mrs. Eme Udom, General Manager Venture Relations & Nigerian Content and
Mr. Deji Oladunni, Manager, Regulatory Coordination.

Mr. Paul McGrath congratulated Engr. Sarki on his appointment as Director/CEO of the DPR. The courtesy visit amongst other things, was to get acquainted with the Director on a first-hand basis and to thank the Department for the collaboration over the years.

Engr. Sarki thanked the delegation for the visit and reassured the Chairman and his team of DPR’s continued support to all stakeholders.

The Director communicated his vision for the industry going forward, in line with Mr. President’s directive to drive new investments into the sector especially in the areas of LPG penetration and CNG utilisation.

CNG is proposed as an alternative to Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) which is not only a cleaner energy alternative, but will also result in reduced consumption of PMS by Nigerians nationwide. This policy will benefit the environment and the Nigerian economy in the medium and long-term respectively.

The DPR Director/CEO emphasised the importance of taking advantage of new investment opportunities in the Nigerian oil and gas industry as this will open up the economy by creating jobs for Nigerians and also increase business for investors, which translate to a “WIN-WIN” for all stakeholders.
